Minitrix N Scale Model Trains

Minitrix refers to the series of trains developed by Trix, a Germany based toy maker that specializes in miniature trains. Trix is currently under Märklin, since January of 1997, after it declared bankruptcy. But the history of Trix started in 1935 when the company of under the same name started to release electrically powered model trains. The company started to come out with AC power before WWII but eventually shifted to DC in 1956. Before 1960, the company specialized in HO model scale trains.

Minitrix was first introduced to the public during the 60s. Minitrix, until today, is solely focused on N scale models. Keeping up with the tradition, Minitrix is solely powered by DC. When the company released the N scale models during the 60s, the models were purely German and European trains. After a few years, Minitrix with US models were marketed under the name "Postage Stamp".

One of the most distinguishable characteristic of Minitrix is the use of AC for this type of scale. This is very popular among collectors because the AC powered model scales of Minitrix were usually produced during the late 60s. Other Minitrix N scale models from the 70s are also being reproduced today by Märklin.
